On December 27, the first Armenian animated film “Anahit” will be playing at all movie theatres in Yerevan.
The 85-minute film based on Armenian famous writer Ghazaros Aghayan’s homonymous fairy tale and tells about the Armenian king Vachagan, who falls in love with Anahit, a country woman, who refuses to marry him saying that the king must first learn a craft. Vachagan learns to weave carpets, a skill which eventually saves his life. Vachagan was taken prisoner and sent woven brocade with messages on it to Anahit.
Numerous Armenian celebrities have done the voice-overs for “Anahit,” famous Armenian singers and the Akunk Folk Ensemble have performed its songs, Davit Sahakyants and Lyulya Sahakyants are the directors, and Sharm Holding is the producer of this animated film.
In my opinion, this animated film will bring a new qualitative dimension to Armenian animation film production and in near future we will have more animated films in Armenia and will have a chance to show them in different international festivals of films.
