In Dresden members of PEGIDA or ‘Patriotic Europeans against the Islamisation of the West’ held a rally against extremism and perceived abuses of Germany’s asylum system.

They are not against refugee as  one PEGIDA demonstrator said, and then he added “Look at our asylum seekers’ homes here. There are only men living there. Where are their families?”

PEGIDA says it is not against Muslims in general but wants to preserve the country’s Judeo-Christian culture.

The Germany is not the first country who has a protests going on this topic. Switzerland on 29 November 2009 became the first country in Europe to vote to curb the religious practices of Muslims when a referendum banning the construction of minarets on mosques was backed by a solid majority.
